St Basil Toller Fratrum

This is a tiny chapel style building standing in its own graveyard beside a lovely 16c farm house.  The name 'fratrum' comes from the Latin for 'brother' and refers to the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem who owned the property in Medieval times; Toller refers to the river.The church is ancient although it was largely re-built by the Victorians.  The nave and chancel are one. There is an interesting 12c font decorated with strange creatures and a fragment of a panel depicting Mary Magdalene washing Christ's feet.  The communion rail is 18c.
